Drop off and Pick Up
* Please don't drop children off before 8:55 if your morning or 12:25 for afternoon, I will not be in the classroom before this time. When you arrive for pickup, park in the circle and wait for your child . I will bring the children around to the front at 11:30 or 3:00. PLEASE DON'T BE LATE! If you know you will be late, please make other arrangements for your child, so they can be picked up on time. Children get very concerned when their parents are not there at pick up time.

Illness
*PLEASE keep your child at home if he or she has a fever, thick discharge from nose, flu symptoms, bad cough, pink eye or is just not feeling well. Also keep your child at home if they have had vomiting or loose stools within the last 72 hours. (Norovirus is contagious for at least three days after symptoms subside) This will help keep the other children well and make it an enjoyable year for everyone. This year one of the kids, has a medically complex sibling, who can get VERY sick. PLEASE use good judgement on sending your child to school, thank you!
Should the need arise, I'm allotted three emergency family/sick days per school year. I will send a text to let everyone know that morning. If I need to use any MORE then 3 days, I will prorate or make up days as needed.

Show and Tell
*Each Thursday ( On Wednesday 2020-2021 school year) we have "Show and Tell." I will let you know in the monthly calendar what type of item your child should bring each week. PLEASE DON'T FORGET, children love sharing their special items with the other children. DON'T BRING BREAKABLE ITEMS or ELECTRONICS. Please have your children keep toys at home, unless they go with the letter of the week for show and tell. I have plenty of toys for free play.

Field Trips
*I will need a permission slip for each child. This slip is good for every field trip during the year. In the fall, there will be one field trip that will require a fee. I will cover your child for this field trip, but every adult and sibling going will cost around $5. Which is deeply discounted from the regular price. Field trips will be combined with my other classes and will usually be held Thursday (Wednesday 2020-2021 school year) mornings. I will let you know when and where each field trip will be. Please check your calendars /texts each month for more information. If you choose not to have your child participate in the scheduled field trips, please let me know.
Parent volunteers will be used to transport students to and from the field trip and help with supervising. All parents are welcome and I appreciate your help in making field trips successful. All drivers need insurance and working seat belts. Everyone also needs to bring a booster seat/car seat that day (IT'S THE LAW) and we want your child safe. Please let me know if you are planning on volunteering, I can't do it without parental help.

Birthdays/ allergies
*On your child's birthday or school day nearest you child's birthday, they will be "King or Queen" for the day. If your child's birthday is during the summer, we will celebrate another day. Please have your child bring a poster or a few pictures they can share with the class. They may also bring a treat to share on their special day. Please text with any questions. I will spotlight your child with whatever they bring. Please don't bring hard candy or anything with nuts/peanuts.(Suckers are fine)
If your child has an allergy, please let me know. I have Celiac disease, so I can't have gluten. Therefore, I am very understanding and careful when it comes to allergies.

Discipline
*I will have a reward for children who obey the rules. Each day the children will feed "George Giraffe " a pom pom. Each time Jessie is full, we will have a special bubble gum day.
If a child is constantly misbehaving, I will print a calendar that will be kept in your child's folder. They will earn a sticker each day when they are good. I don't expect children to be perfect.
*Later in the year, I will also have a Mystery Hero once a week. I will draw a name out, but not let the children know who it is. If the child is well behaved by following the rules, playing nice and is a good listener that day, they will get to draw out a mystery prize at the end of the week. They have the whole week to earn it. If that child does not earn the Mystery Hero award, then the child's name will go back in to try again. I will tell the children that the Mystery Hero needs to try harder each day, if they haven't earned their reward, but will not tell the class who the child is.
***PLEASE REVIEW- what we are learning with your child (especially their letters and sounds). I can tell every year, which parent takes the time to review and read with their child. These children are always more confident and are better readers. Your help will go a LONG way with their education.
Backpacks/Folders
*Each child will need to bring a backpack and their folder to school each day. Please have your child's name clearly marked on it. The students will bring their work home in their folder. Please take the time to look through their folder each day. Look at their work and encourage your child to tell you what they are learning. This will help them know that what they do in school is important. There will be some days that their work may not be complete and will come home another day. Make sure their backpack is large enough to hold a folder.
Clothing
*Please don't send them in their best clothes, there will be days when we have fun messy activities. I have shirts to put over their clothes, but there are no guarantees.
I will try and let you know in advance through texts or on the calendar when we will be painting.
Holidays
*We will follow the Davis County School District traditional schedule. If the district is out of school that day, we will also be out.
* We will be celebrating traditional holidays in school, Christmas, Halloween etc. If your family celebrates a different holiday like Hanukkah, please let me know. We would love to learn about it and celebrate along with you. I don't want any child to feel left out.
